With more than a dozen albums and countless EPs that have accompanied ambient, post-rock and experimental music lovers through the twilight hours since the late 90s, English bassist Mark Beazley and a revolving cast of friends ended the Rothko adventure in 2010.
Beazley was back a few months later with his first solo album, the very melancholic and introspective Stateless.
Along with Crawford Blair, one of the original members of Rothko, the pair resurfaced recently as Rome Pays Off with the album There's No Simple Explanation.
Alexis and Wesley Paul are Belle Arché Lou. An acoustic guitar for one and vibraphone for the other, the music of these two French brothers takes the form of magnificent instrumental ballades. They make sounds to collapse in a field of sunflowers with glitter in your eyes, no less!
Alexis and Wesley gave us the chance to hear their first album, Les Avalanches Tombées Du Ciel, before its release the following autumn. They were accompanied by Gabriel Afathi on keyboard and percussions.
