After formative years spent in Dublin, Holden were spotted by now sadly defunct French label Lithium and they released their first album, L'Arrière-Monde, in 1998. The group, formed by Armelle Pioline and Mocke, then recorded Pedrolira, Chevrotine and Fantômatisme, three albums which are essential for any fan of enlightened French pop.
Stylish and inventive, Holden's music fits somewhere between straight pop tunes and experimental pop, all assisted by an inspired guitar, evocative lyrics and the most alluring French voice.
Produced by Uwe Schmidt (Atom™, Señor Coconut) since Pedrolira, Holden have just released L'Essentiel, a double album which traces their career from the beginning in Ireland.
With Catchers due to play 7ème Ciel by the end of the summer, we were delighted to welcome another band whose name was inspired by the JD Salinger novel The Catcher in the Rye.
