ROBERT GOMEZ | ERICA BUETTNER | THE RESIDENT CARDS July 10, 2010
Often seen playing with his friends from Midlake, the Texan singer-songwriter Robert Gomez was invited along to 7ème Ciel. This concert took place during his European tour with John Grant (The Czars).
With three albums to his name – Etherville, Brand New Towns and Pine Sticks And Phosphorus – Gomez writes brilliant indie-folk bursting with melody. His lyrics are often marked by a somewhat disenchanted romanticism.
Erica Buettner is a Paris-based singer-songwriter hailing from Connecticut. Her debut album, True Love And Water, is a beautiful treasure blessed with Buettner's unique gift for melody and harmony. We dare you not to fall in love with her graceful and intoxicating voice.
The Resident Cards is a project by Erica Buettner and Dana Boulé, a classically trained pianist and accordionist from New York City. Although these two friends have voices that go together perfectly, their inspirations are very different: Buettner cites Leonard Cohen and Vashti Bunyan, whereas it is the New York punk scene for Boulé. It is a diversity that enriches their songs.
