Lolito is a four-headed pop rock beast that exploded onto the French scene last year. They were in the middle of recording their debut album and their arrival at 7ème Ciel was accompanied with a little apprehension. How would their normally electrifying songs sound in an acoustic environment and what would that do to the energy they usually display on stage?
Frankly, our worries disappeared very quickly. Right from the start, the band found the perfect balance between their taut, powerful dynamism and the restraint required by these surroundings. Beneath the freshness of Lolito there is a real talent for composition. It's hardly surprising then that their songs passed the acoustic test brilliantly.
If a pop format is at the heart of their work, Anne, Florence, Mathias and Michel also create more fragile songs which allow them to veer off the beaten track. These diverse styles are skillfully combined, taking nothing away from the cohesion of the group.
At the end of this beautiful July night, Lolito left behind a reinvigorated 7ème Ciel, happier than ever to just be alive.
